Attention! "Thin Ice" -

a special preventive event by the Ministry of Emergency Situations will be held

throughout the Vitebsk

region from March 10 to March 16.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations reminds:

the safe ice thickness is 7 cm for one person;

the ice thickness on water bodies varies in different places;

thin ice is found near the shores, in areas of shoals and rapids, at river confluences, on bends, near frozen objects, and in places where warm and sewage drains flow;

at a temperature of 0 °C, which persists for

three days, the ice strength decreases by 25%;

a life jacket is mandatory;

do not forget to take "ice picks" with you;

do not go fishing alone or to a deserted place, otherwise no one will help you if necessary;

inform your loved ones about your location and expected return time.

In 2025, during the long weekend alone (from March 7 to March 9), 15 people drowned in the republic

, including 1 child.
