MChS warns: Caution, snow on roofs!

Attention, citizens! Due to snowfall and variable weather, a large amount of snow is accumulating on building roofs, posing a serious danger. The Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Verkhnedvinsk district strongly recommends exercising increased caution and taking necessary preventive measures.

Dangers associated with snow on roofs:

• Snow and ice slides: Frozen water accumulating in the snow turns into ice, which can suddenly fall during thaws or under the influence of sunlight. This can lead to injuries and even fatalities, as well as damage to vehicles and other property.
• Collapse of roof structures: The heavy weight of snow can cause deformation or complete collapse of roofs, especially in old or dilapidated buildings.
• Dampness and moisture penetration: Melting snow can penetrate under the roof, causing leaks, damage to interior finishes, and promoting mold growth.

Recommendations from the Ministry of Emergency Situations for residents and pedestrians:

• Be attentive when passing by buildings: Pay attention to warning signs and barriers. If possible, choose routes away from buildings.
• Do not park vehicles near buildings: Especially under balconies, canopies, or roofs, from where snow or ice may fall.
• Heed warnings: If you hear a suspicious cracking sound from the roof, immediately move to a safe distance.
