Be close to your child – a motto for parents!
Almost all children show increased interest in fire, without fully realizing its potential danger. Between the ages of three and five, children often imitate adults in their games, mimicking their actions. At this age, children want to learn and experience everything as quickly as possible.
The desire for independence is especially evident when children are left home alone. One cannot be sure that, left alone, a child will not decide to play with a box of matches, will not want to set paper on fire, or will not build a campfire they once saw in the forest. Very often, danger comes from open balconies and windows, matches, medicine bottles, and the gas stove. It is impossible to predict all cases, of course. However, it is very important to explain the basic safety rules to the child!
Under the auspices of the information campaign "Be with your child!", rescuers tirelessly emphasize that leaving young children unsupervised is strictly prohibited. Sometimes adults are forced to leave their child alone for a while. Many parents believe that a child can be left alone at home, even for a few minutes, with a phone, as it is possible to contact them at any moment. And to keep the child occupied, cartoons, games, or videos are turned on the gadget. Thus, they believe the child will be under their control and safe. But this is a mistaken belief. Parents forget that a phone call cannot protect or save a child from danger at the moment a threat arises.
Before leaving home, it is necessary to entrust the supervision of the child to an adult. It is especially dangerous to leave children alone in locked apartments. In case of fire, they cannot leave the burning premises on their own. Moreover, when escaping from fire and smoke, children usually hide in closets, under beds, or tables. Finding children in a fire situation is not an easy task.
A similar tragedy occurred on the morning of November 22, 2023, in the village of Svoiatichi, Lyakhovichi District, where a residential building caught fire. Concerned neighbors reported the incident to rescuers at 07:41. Rescuers who promptly arrived at the scene found that the wooden residential building was completely engulfed in flames. During the reconnaissance, rescuers discovered the bodies of a boy born in 2019 and a girl born in 2016 at the fire. It has been preliminarily established that the mother of the deceased was at work, and the children were home alone. All circumstances of the incident, including the cause of the fire, will be determined.
The task of parents is to ensure the child's safety and teach them safety rules. Cherish the most precious thing you have – the life and health of your children.
