What to do if an electrical appliance catches fire?

The first thing adults and children should remember is not to panic. Then, follow the recommendations of the Ministry of Emergency Situations:

– unplug the device from the socket; if this is not possible, de-energize the apartment (house) through the electrical panel on the landing.

– try to deal with the fire yourself before the rescuers arrive (if the flame is small and your life and health are not threatened): cover the burning appliance with a dense cloth or blanket to cut off the air supply to the fire, or try to smother the flames with sand, soil, or powder.

If you cannot extinguish the fire within a few minutes, do not waste any more time and call the rescuers by phone at 101 or 112.

Remember that violating the rules for operating electrical appliances and equipment can lead to tragedy. Parents, explain to children that leaving a charger plugged in overnight is a fire hazard.
