Winter pond
Children venture out to explore the icy surface, driven by curiosity, lack of life experience, and the absence of adult supervision. Typically, all these factors lead to tragedy:
The end of 2021 was also overshadowed by tragic events in the Polotsk district. Two children drowned in the Western Dvina River. The boys were sledding on a tube from the riverbank; the 10-year-old birthday boy fell through the ice, and his 12-year-old friend tried to help him out but also ended up in the water. A girl on the bank called her brother for help. He tried to assist, but after floating about 500 meters in the ice hole, the children went under the ice.
Dear parents. No one but you can convince your child not to approach frozen bodies of water. Children cannot comprehend the danger of going out on the ice. Keep your children away from sledding and other games near water bodies. Ponds, industrial reservoirs, streams, and small rivers, which are often located in populated areas, near your homes, pose a particular danger.
