Children aged 7-13 are very fond of making bonfires, into which they throw used aerosol cans and deodorants, resulting in severe flame burns that can lead to disability or even death.

On July 8, 2023, a child with burns covering 40% of their body was admitted to the emergency room of the Orsha City Hospital from the village of Torchilovo. As it turned out from the circumstances of the investigation, the mother and her children were at their dacha. They lit a bonfire outside to cook food. While the woman was momentarily distracted, a 9-year-old child took a container of gasoline from the house and brought it to the bonfire, and his sister dipped a skewer from the grill into it. As a result, there was a flare-up, and the boy's shorts caught fire. The mother extinguished the clothes herself and took the child to the hospital.

However, it is not only younger children who can get burns from making bonfires, but also children of middle and even high school age. The cause of this is the desire to "experiment" with flammable substances and liquids. They thoughtlessly throw plastic, slate, and linoleum into the fire. They fearlessly pour gasoline, kerosene, solvent, and oil into it. However, the cans explode, the flame from the liquid suddenly flares up – and as a result, children receive thermal injuries to their hands, face, and eyes.

And it is fortunate that these incidents did not end in tragedy. Parents, talk to your children about the dangers of open fire, tell them that trouble can happen due to curiosity and careless handling of fire.
