How to prevent fires from electrical wiring and appliances

Fires in residential buildings are often related to electricity: whether it is a violation of fire safety rules during the operation of electrical equipment, malfunctions, or wear and tear of the electrical network.

We remind you of some precautions when operating electrical appliances.

It is prohibited:

- to operate electrical wires and cables with visible insulation damage;

- to use damaged electrical outlets;

- to use electric heating appliances that do not have thermal protection devices, as well as in the absence or malfunction of temperature controllers provided for by the design;

- to use homemade electric heating appliances;

- not to use homemade electric heating appliances, especially high-power ones for which the house's electrical network is not designed.

- to leave electric heating appliances, including those in standby mode, plugged into the electrical network unattended, except for those that can or must operate around the clock in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions;

- to place flammable and combustible substances and materials near electrical panels;

- to use temporary wiring, as well as extension cords for powering electrical appliances.

The fire safety of electrical wiring is ensured by observing the following basic requirements:

- correct selection of the type of electrical wiring and method of its installation;

- compliance of the type of electrical wiring and characteristics of the wires, cables, and pipes used with the permissible methods of installation on supporting bases and structures;

- correct selection of electrical protection;

- installation of electrical wiring must be carried out by specialists.
