Ashes of Spring
With the arrival of spring, the issue of grass fires becomes particularly relevant. First and foremost, this concerns rural areas.
It is precisely the owners of dachas and private houses who try to get rid of last year's vegetation and winter debris as quickly as possible, choosing a not-so-safe method. This method often leads to tragic consequences: destruction of residential buildings and outbuildings, environmental damage, and sometimes injuries to people.
And if there are those who burn dry grass for the sake of tidiness, there are also citizens who, out of ignorance or carelessness, leave bonfires unextinguished, throw away matches or cigarette butts.
– Every year, with the onset of the fire hazard period, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations conduct preventive measures, – explain the Verkhnedvinsk rescuers. – These include raids on fire-hazardous areas, abandoned structures, and explanatory work with residents of rural areas and garden associations. The most dangerous places at such times are abandoned structures – overgrown with dry vegetation and bushes, they allow fire to spread rapidly throughout the territory, posing a threat to neighboring structures.
It should be understood that burning dry grass will not bring any benefit, but it can certainly cause harm: do not neglect the advice of rescuers!
Remember that burning dry vegetation, grass at the root, stubble, and post-harvest residues in fields, as well as failure to take measures to extinguish grass fires on land plots, is strictly prohibited! For violation of this requirement, administrative liability is provided in the form of a fine from 10 to 30 basic units.
It is still possible to make bonfires and burn garbage. But it should only be done on household plots, after proper preparation:
– to do this, dig around the bonfire site and provide it with primary fire extinguishing means (a bucket of water, a shovel, a fire extinguisher);
– do not make a bonfire near combustible buildings and structures – it is better to move it to a safe distance that excludes the possibility of your property and others' property catching fire;
– before leaving the bonfire site, extinguish it completely until smoldering ceases.
In case of fire and other emergencies, immediately report by calling 101 or 112. And remember, fire safety rules must be observed not for the rescuers, but for your own safety.
