Criminal case art. 155 wanted to scare, shot

The Prosecutor's Office of the Verkhnedvinsk District supported the state prosecution in a criminal case against a 57-year-old local resident at an in-camera court hearing. The man is accused of causing less severe bodily harm by negligence.

The case was heard in the building of the Volynetsky Rural Executive Committee.

According to the materials of the criminal case, the man, while intoxicated, fired one shot from a hunting rifle into the leg of his acquaintance. As a result of this act, the victim sustained less severe bodily harm – a through-and-through wound to the left foot.

In court, the defendant fully admitted his guilt and sincerely repented of his actions. He explained that during a conflict that arose, he was trying to drive a guest out of his house who did not want to leave. To scare his acquaintance, the man brought out a hunting rifle left by his deceased father. Standing on the porch, he held the weapon loaded, with the barrel pointing downwards. When the victim took a step forward, the defendant accidentally fired, hitting him in the leg. It should be noted that the victim was also intoxicated.

Taking into account the evidence presented by the state prosecutor, the Verkhnedvinsk District Court rendered a guilty verdict. Pursuant to Article 155 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus, the man was sentenced to a fine of 130 base units, which amounts to 5850 rubles.

The court's verdict has not yet entered into legal force and may be appealed in appellate order.
