In 2024, instances of illegal acquisition, possession, transportation, and carrying of firearms, their parts, and ammunition, as well as explosives and explosive devices, were recorded.

The correct and uniform application of the law in cases of crimes related to the illicit trafficking of weapons, ammunition, explosives, and explosive devices is crucial for maintaining public order and safety, protecting citizens' lives, health, and property, and preventing criminal offenses.

Both administrative and criminal liability shall be incurred for the illegal acquisition, possession, carrying, transfer of possession, and sale of weapons.

The illegal manufacture, acquisition, transfer of possession, sale, possession, transportation, shipment, or carrying of firearms (except for smooth-bore hunting firearms), ammunition (except for ammunition for smooth-bore hunting firearms), explosives, or explosive devices, or the illegal manufacture, acquisition, transfer of possession, sale, transportation, shipment, or carrying of component parts or components of firearms (except for component parts and components of smooth-bore hunting firearms), or the illegal manufacture or sale of main parts of explosive devices, is a criminal offense and may result in imprisonment for up to seven years, with or without a fine.

For example, in 2024, the Verkhnedvinsk District Court rendered a guilty verdict against a resident of the Verkhnedvinsk District for the illegal acquisition, possession, and carrying of ammunition, explosives, and component parts of firearms.

Specifically, citizen K., at a date and time not precisely established, in a location not reliably determined, illegally acquired, and subsequently transported to his place of residence in the village of Volyntsy, Verkhnedvinsk District, ammunition – a spent casing from a revolver cartridge – and possessed it until its discovery by employees of the Verkhnedvinsk Inter-district Inspectorate for the Protection of Fauna and Flora.

Important reminder! Individuals possessing firearms and gas pistols whose permits for storage and carrying are expiring must contact the permitting system to resolve the issue of permit renewal.

We would like to remind you once again that individuals who voluntarily surrender illegally stored weapons and ammunition to the internal affairs bodies are exempted from criminal liability.
