Lukashenko and Raisi signed a roadmap for comprehensive cooperation until 2026

Following negotiations in Tehran, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko and President of Iran Ebrahim Raisi signed a roadmap for comprehensive cooperation between the countries for 2023-2026, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.

During the meeting with his Iranian counterpart, Alexander Lukashenko assured that Minsk would do everything necessary to fulfill the signed agreements. "You can count on us," the head of state emphasized.

The roadmap provides for comprehensive cooperation between Belarus and Iran in the political, economic, consular, scientific and technical spheres, as well as in education, culture, arts, media, and tourism.

An agreement on the development and preparation of the document was reached during the meeting between Alexander Lukashenko and Ebrahim Raisi in September 2021 on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit.

Following the negotiations between the heads of state in Tehran, a plan of measures on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Belarus and Iran, an intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the field of plant quarantine and protection, and an agreement on the transfer of convicted persons to serve their sentences were also signed.

The parties also made amendments to the intergovernmental agreement on international road transport relations dated February 4, 1998, formalizing this in a corresponding protocol.

Memoranda of understanding were signed between the Ministry of Culture of Belarus and the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance of Iran, between the co-chairs of the Belarusian-Iranian commission on economic cooperation on trade issues, and between the State Committee for Standardization of Belarus and the National Standards Organization of Iran.
