"Наше дело - видеть свои интересы". Лукашенко о продолжающейся санкционной политике Запада, включая США

"Our business is to see our interests." Lukashenko on the West's continuing sanctions policy, including the US

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko commented on the ongoing sanctions policy by the West, despite the changed rhetoric of the US leadership. He made relevant statements at a meeting in Minsk on global international situation and the development of Belarusian-American relations, a BELTA correspondent reports.

"It should be taken into account that at the moment, sanctions against Belarus by the United States and its allies, especially the European Union, remain in force. Yes, we have learned to live under the pressure of these sanctions, to work, although not without problems. But they exist. They harm us, distract us from solving many problems," the head of state said. "Unfortunately, the US administration continues to pursue a policy of promoting certain pseudo-democratic values. We see this too. In words, they seem to have moved away from this. But in reality, nothing of the sort."

Alexander Lukashenko recalled that earlier, US President Donald Trump and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio had announced the cessation of funding for various NGOs and other "dirty deeds." "But quite recently we learned about this, that nothing of the sort, the funding has been resumed. Well, it's their business where to spend money. And our business is to see our interests," the Belarusian leader emphasized.
