Lukashenko proposed to lobby for Tajikistan to join the EAEU

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko suggested persuading Tajikistan to join the Eurasian Economic Union. The head of state made this remark during a meeting with the heads of government of the CIS and EAEU countries who arrived for international forums in Minsk, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.

After the speech of the Prime Minister of Tajikistan Kohir Rasulzoda, the head of state said: "As I understand it, Tajikistan is not yet ready to join the EAEU. Mikhail Vladimirovich (addressing the Prime Minister of Russia Mikhail Mishustin. - BELTA note), we need to somehow persuade our colleague."

Currently, the members of the Eurasian Economic Union are Belarus, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Armenia.
