"There will be a final exam in the spring." Lukashenko on landscaping in Zhirovichi
During his visit to Zhirovichi, home to one of the major Orthodox centers, the Holy Assumption Zhirovichi Monastery, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko drew the attention of responsible officials to shortcomings in landscaping and orderliness, which had been previously instructed, BELTA correspondent reports.
"Some elements surrounding this monastery indicate that some things were done hastily not long ago. Not everything has been done. Remember: this is the pearl of Orthodoxy. We must create an ideal place here for Orthodox Christians," the Belarusian leader emphasized.
"The village should be ideal. Down to the sheds. This is a pearl. People will come here. We will educate the youth," the head of state noted.
As BELTA reported, during a previous visit to the Zhirovichi Monastery in June 2021, the President instructed to complete the landscaping not only of the monastery and its territory but also of the agro-town itself within four years. "Zhirovichi is an agro-town for us. And part of this agro-town is the monastery and the church. They must be brought into ideal condition. This should be a pearl. I promise you that we will allocate the funds fully for the needs. But in a thrifty manner," he said.
