Lukashenko promises support to farmers

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko assured that support is provided in the country for those who wish to engage in farming. He made the corresponding statement during a working trip to the Mogilev region, BELTA correspondent reports.

The head of state recalled that at one time, after the collapse of the Soviet Union, it was necessary to restore once successful agricultural organizations that found themselves in a not-so-good situation in the 90s. And then a number of countries chose the path of selling land. But Belarus made a different choice for itself, and now collective farms, state farms, and so on are working effectively. In such an established, well-tuned system, there is an opportunity to transfer, for example, individual plots of land to farmers for agricultural purposes.

"Then I had to show: this is the path we will take - large-scale farms. But if someone wants to become a farmer - please, here is the land. Today there are no problems at all. Take any farm. Naturally, no one will give you "Rassvet", you understand that there will be a fight for this "Rassvet" or for some lands. These are peasants, you can't break things here... You need to be careful," Alexander Lukashenko emphasized.

Today, there are no problems creating farms, he added. But the difficulty is that at the moment, many who apply for agricultural land would like to have "large latifundia," that is, to engage in large-scale production, but at a private level. "Please. We have them. But I'll say right away that well-functioning farms (most of them), of course, no one will give away. Why break them? They work - let them work. And where a private individual needs to apply their efforts, please, we will support them," the head of state stated.

"We talk with those who work," he added.
