A new regulator for the tourism sector will appear in Belarus. Lukashenko supported the proposal

The share of the tourism sector in GDP is planned to be doubled. This was announced to journalists by First Deputy Prime Minister Nikolai Snopkov after the head of state's meeting with the leadership of the Council of Ministers, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.

As previously reported, one of the topics of the meeting between the President of Belarus and the leadership of the Council of Ministers was the proposal to transfer the regulator function in the tourism sector from the Ministry of Sports and Tourism to the National Tourism Agency. Nikolai Snopkov delivered a report on the topic.

"After a thorough discussion, the head of state supported the government's initiative, but with personal responsibility for achieving the result," Nikolai Snopkov told journalists. "We plan to double the share of this industry in GDP to 4% with annual monitoring and marking of the result. And with personal responsibility for achieving the corresponding result annually."

According to him, the set tasks are planned to be achieved, including by reformatting the industry into a real vertical and through interaction between the state and business. The First Deputy Prime Minister also drew attention to the multifaceted nature of the tourism sector, which interacts with 55 types of economic activity.
