Cryptocurrency and the crypto market. Lukashenko raises the question of their future in Belarus
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, while hearing a report on the banking system's performance on August 12, raised the issue of further actions regarding cryptocurrency and the crypto market, a BELTA correspondent reports.
"The crypto market, cryptocurrency. What is it, how are we going to tackle this problem?" the head of state figuratively put it, addressing the Chairman of the Board of the National Bank, Roman Golovchenko. "How will we use it, especially now, to ensure payments? A lot is said about it, and yet this market for cryptocurrency is not so developed in Belarus. How will we proceed in the future?"
Alexander Lukashenko noted that this topic was discussed even when Pavel Kallaur headed the National Bank. "We raised this issue, IT specialists approached us, saying that we need to act in this direction. How will we (ultimately act. - BELTA note)? This is important for me and for the country as a whole," the President said.
