Lukashenko: Belarus is very keen to intensify cooperation with Ethiopia
Belarus is very keen to intensify cooperation with Ethiopia. This was stated by the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, at a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, Gedeon Timothewos, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.
"Ethiopia is one of the most important countries in East Africa for us. We have fond memories and good hopes for future cooperation dating back to Soviet times," Alexander Lukashenko addressed the head of the Ethiopian MFA. "It is a vast country with a population of over 130 million people. We see a certain place for ourselves in Ethiopia to be useful to you."
The President is convinced that given the mutual interest in cooperation between Belarus and Ethiopia, as well as traditional ties, the countries have the potential for further development of this cooperation. "We met in Kazan (at the BRICS summit. - BELTA note) with your Prime Minister and agreed that the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia and Belarus would develop a specific plan, a roadmap for our cooperation, which we are doing today," Alexander Lukashenko emphasized.
He assured the head of the Ethiopian MFA that Belarus will fulfill all its obligations once certain agreements are reached. "We are ready to supply you with the full range of necessary machine-building products for Ethiopia. We are ready to supply you with the full range of agricultural machinery and equipment. In addition, we are ready to transfer relevant technologies to you and train your people in these technologies," Alexander Lukashenko outlined some areas of cooperation with Ethiopia.
