Yury Karaev appointed Chairman of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has appointed Yuri Karaev as Chairman of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee, a BELTA correspondent reports.
Prior to this, Yuri Karaev served as Aide to the President – Inspector for Grodno Region, and before that, he headed the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus.
Karaev Yuri Khadzhimuratovich was born in 1966 in the city of Ordzhonikidze, North Ossetian ASSR.
He graduated in 1987 from the Dzerzhinsky Saratov Higher Military Command Red Banner School of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the USSR; in 1997 – from the Frunze Military Academy; in 2013 – from the General Staff Faculty of the Armed Forces of the Military Academy of the Republic of Belarus.
From 1987 to 1994, he served in the internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in various positions.
In 1994-1997 – a cadet at the Frunze Military Academy.
In 1997 – senior officer in the main directorate of the commander of the internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
In 1997-1999 – commander of a special-purpose battalion in one of the units of the internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
In 1999-2008 – commander of units of the internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
In 2008 – commander of the special-purpose police regiment of the Main Internal Affairs Directorate of the Minsk City Executive Committee.
In 2008-2009 – commander of a military unit of the internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
In 2009-2011 – first deputy head of operational and combat training of the main directorate of the commander of the internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
In 2011-2013 – a cadet at the General Staff Faculty of the Armed Forces of the Military Academy of the Republic of Belarus.
In 2012-2019 – Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs – Commander of the Internal Troops.
In 2019-2020 – Minister of Internal Affairs.
From 2020 to 2025 – Aide to the President of the Republic of Belarus – Inspector for Grodno Region.
March 2025 – Acting Chairman of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee.
In March 2025, he was appointed Chairman of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee.
Awarded the medal "For Impeccable Service" III degree (2002); the medal "For Impeccable Service" II degree (2010); the medal "For Impeccable Service" I degree (2014); the Order "For Service to the Motherland" III degree (2015).
