Lukashenko approved the procedure for awarding the medal in honor of the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War
On February 27, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko signed Decree No. 80 "On the Anniversary Medal," which approved the regulations on awarding the medal "80 Years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945." This was reported to BELTA by the press service of the Belarusian leader.
The document was adopted to implement the decision of the Council of Heads of State of the CIS member states dated September 9, 2024, on the establishment of a unified anniversary medal in honor of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory.
This medal is made of gold-colored metal. Its obverse depicts figures of Red Army soldiers raising the Victory Banner over the Reichstag, and a faceted five-pointed star framed by a laurel wreath.
The anniversary medal is awarded to veterans of the Great Patriotic War, former prisoners of Nazi concentration camps, prisons, and ghettos, as well as individuals who have made a significant contribution to the heroic and patriotic education of the population and the perpetuation of the memory of the heroes, participants, and victims of the Great Patriotic War.
