President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko took part in the ceremonial launch of artesian water from underground sources to supply water to Minsk on January 10, BELTA reports.
The ceremony took place at the new "Shchomyslitsa" pumping station.
"Well, are we ready to capture this historical fact?" - Alexander Lukashenko noted before the launch.
The head of state, together with the Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee Vladimir Kukharev and the Director of "Minskvodokanal" Fyodor Rimashevsky, turned the symbolic valve and launched the artesian water.
The President was informed about the work done to transfer Minsk to water supply from underground sources. Then Alexander Lukashenko inspected the equipment in the machine room of the pumping station.
"60 power substations were built, 88 kilometers of cable networks were laid to supply all this with electricity," noted Vladimir Kukharev. - In addition, about 40 settlements in the Minsk and Pukhovichi districts will be connected to this system to also receive artesian water."
"The fact that our specialists know how to do this is a great thing," emphasized the head of state. - This is an achievement."
Some of the equipment at the station is of foreign production. Alexander Lukashenko noted that it is necessary to study the wear resistance of systems and materials once again and consider what can be produced in the country.
