Union programs with Russia. Interim results and problematic aspects became the topic of a meeting with Lukashenko

The implementation of the Union State integration programs was the subject of a meeting chaired by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko on January 12, according to a BELTA correspondent.

The purpose of the meeting, according to Alexander Lukashenko, was to discuss the progress of the 28 sectoral programs adopted just over a year ago at a meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State. "That is, this is our action program - Belarus and Russia - for the upcoming period," the head of state clarified. "We agreed then that their implementation would allow us to move significantly forward in ensuring equal rights for citizens and economic entities of the two countries. This is the foundation on which we are building relations with fraternal Russia - equal conditions for people and enterprises. That is precisely why we opted for comprehensive solutions to many issues of cooperation with the Russian Federation," the head of state explained.

According to him, this primarily concerns integration in the economic sphere and the creation of conditions for cooperation between enterprises of both countries.

The programs and departmental plans contain about a thousand measures for their implementation, with specific deadlines and responsible persons set, the President recalled. "About 70% of such measures have already been completed. However, some measures that are important for us (measures. - BELTA note) are lagging behind the agreed schedules," the Belarusian leader noted. "As I am informed, our Russian partners are moving slowly on a number of issues. But I always say: it's not always one person's fault. We are also not doing enough in some areas."

Belarus and Russia have agreed to implement 28 Union programs, which collectively contain about a thousand measures. They have been completed by almost 68% (671 out of 989 measures). As of the beginning of 2023, seven programs concerning product traceability, transport, currency, veterinary and phytosanitary control, the financial sector, accounting, and the development of nuclear energy have been fully implemented. Work continues on the implementation of 21 Union programs, including in the fields of agriculture, transport, industry, and energy.
