Lukashenko congratulated Taye Atske-Selassie on his election as President of Ethiopia

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko congratulated Taye Atske-Selassie on his election as President of Ethiopia. This was reported to BELTA by the press service of the Belarusian leader.

"I am confident that your many years of diplomatic experience will serve to increase Ethiopia's constructive role in the African region and address global agenda issues. Minsk and Addis Ababa have long been connected by traditionally friendly relations. Their history is much longer than the 30 years of official diplomatic relations that we are celebrating this year," the congratulatory message reads. "I consider your country our true friend and pillar in Africa and confirm our interest in significantly increasing the dynamics of interaction across a wide range of areas."

Alexander Lukashenko expects Ethiopia to continue supporting Belarus on the issue of joining BRICS. "As a state with an independent position, we are firm supporters of the fundamental principles of this influential international association - multipolarity, equality, and non-interference in the internal affairs of sovereign states," he emphasized.

The President invited his counterpart to visit Belarus, during which all pressing issues could be discussed and ways to deepen Belarusian-Ethiopian cooperation could be agreed upon.

Alexander Lukashenko wished Taye Atske-Selassie good health, the realization of his plans, and success in his responsible state post.
