A basic social tariff for mobile communication for the population will appear in Belarus

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko signed Decree No. 335 "On the Provision of Mobile Cellular Telecommunication Services" on August 26, the press service of the Belarusian leader informed BELTA.

In order to increase the accessibility of mobile communication, including in rural areas, the head of state has decided to establish mandatory requirements for cellular operators regarding the quality and coverage of the services they provide. Cellular operators will be held liable for violations of these requirements.

In accordance with the document, cellular operators will be obliged to allocate a portion of their profits to the construction of new towers, the modernization of existing facilities, and other measures for the development of cellular communication networks, which will expand coverage and signal stability.

Furthermore, the decree provides for the introduction of a basic social tariff for the population, the cost of which will be under state control and will be accessible to all categories of citizens.
