Lukashenko signed amendments to the laws regulating marital and family relations
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko signed the law "On Amendments to Laws on the Regulation of Marriage and Family Relations".
The document is aimed at improving the regulation of such relations, as well as transforming the norms of Decree No. 18 of November 24, 2006 "On Additional Measures for State Protection of Children in Dysfunctional Families" into legislative norms. BELTA was informed about this by the press service of the Belarusian leader.
In particular, the law provides for the consolidation of the powers of state bodies to ensure control over the implementation of state measures for the protection of children. A clear mechanism for removing a child by decision of the commission for juvenile affairs is established, as well as uniform requirements for the content and form of such decisions.
The document provides for the possibility of transferring residential premises (shares in the ownership of them) to the child's ownership in lieu of alimony payments upon agreement by the parents.
In addition, a requirement is introduced for citizens of the Republic of Belarus to inform the competent authorities of their state about the registration of civil status acts concerning themselves and their minor children in foreign states.
The main provisions of the law come into force on January 1, 2025.
