Lukashenko demanded that the debt to farmers for milk and meat be eliminated by August 1
By August 1, 2024, there should be no debt to farmers for meat and milk settlements. This task was set by the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko on June 14 at a meeting with the leadership of the Council of Ministers, BELTA correspondent reports.
Alexander Lukashenko demanded to pay more attention to the development of the agro-service network in the country, which was attempted to be destroyed during the market economy. "The market came, they decided to destroy all this. I said no, this must work. And today it is needed," said the head of state. He believes that service centers of large Belarusian enterprises should be developed on the basis of agro-service organizations. "Abroad, we are struggling to create service centers. Without service, without equipment maintenance, no one will buy it from you abroad. Why can't we use them in our own country?" asked the head of state. "So that they provide services on site, so that bandits and swindlers, intermediaries do not bring you some spare parts."
A similar situation, according to the President, is with mobile mechanized columns, which were widespread in Soviet times and whose potential must be preserved and developed, especially at the district level. "Restore them. We have 200 thousand hectares to restore in terms of land reclamation. Who will do this? These MPMC (inter-district mobile mechanized columns. - BELTA note)," explained Alexander Lukashenko. In addition to performing a whole range of works - from minor assistance to the population in repairing agricultural machinery to more global land reclamation tasks - the development of MPMC also provides additional jobs and employment opportunities in rural areas.
Continuing the discussion on the agricultural sector, the President warned responsible persons about the need for timely settlements with farmers and agricultural organizations for the supplied products. "I warn you: by August 1, there should be no debt to farmers, collective farms, state farms for either milk or meat. Take money from swindlers, the money they have stolen, and give it to the farmers for the supplied products," emphasized Alexander Lukashenko.
