Lukashenko set a target of $9 billion for agro-industrial complex exports in 2024

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko set a target of $9 billion for the export of agricultural products in 2024. He announced this at a meeting on rural development and increasing the efficiency of the agricultural sector, according to a BELTA correspondent.

"This year, we must produce 6-7% more products and aim for $9 billion in exports. Is it difficult? Yes. But we must accomplish these tasks. I appeal to leaders at all levels. Your success should never be enough for you," said the head of state.

As the President noted during the meeting, Belarus is among the top five countries exporting dairy products and the top 20 leading exporters of meat products, which are the main agricultural products.

Domestic food products are supplied to more than 107 countries worldwide, with foreign exchange earnings from their sale in 2023 amounting to almost $7.5 billion. "And this is despite a sharp drop in world prices," noted Alexander Lukashenko.

Today, according to him, the task is to move forward, make the work of the agricultural sector more sustainable, and its development progressive.

"We have all the opportunities to achieve this," the head of state is convinced. "We know how to do it. You see the catastrophic situation with food in the world. It is clear that the situation will only worsen due to population growth and the problems affecting people in various regions of the planet. I repeat: we need to forget about sanctions and other Western scaremongers. They exist, of course. But we must forget them. You know why. We need to steadfastly expand the production and export of high value-added products. Develop national brands, outpacing competitors. Conquer new commodity and geographical segments. There is no other way."
