Lukashenko: Belarus will invariably remain a social state

Belarus will invariably remain a social state. This was stated by the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, on March 21 at a meeting with deputies of the House of Representatives and members of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the seventh convocation, a BELTA correspondent reports.

"The parliamentary approach to working with the population has become a benchmark, where the state not only takes on the responsibility of solving all of a person's problems but also creates conditions for individuals to solve them independently. I believe this is the most correct approach. Assistance to socially vulnerable groups is and will remain one of the priorities of our policy, and Belarus will invariably remain a social state," emphasized Alexander Lukashenko.

The President noted the significant work of parliamentarians in providing targeted support to the most vulnerable categories of citizens who sought assistance: large families, lonely elderly people, disabled individuals, and orphans.

In addition, deputies and senators participated in resolving issues of concern to citizens, held thousands of personal appointments, direct telephone lines, and meetings with work collectives. "All of this collectively allowed you to feel the pulse of society and be with the people," stressed the head of state. "I hope that the good traditions of interaction with the population that you have established will be embraced by the new composition of parliament."

Many appeals from citizens were discussed during the preparation of draft laws and other normative legal acts, the President observed.

According to him, the approaches initiated and practiced by the parliament are successfully used by state management and self-government bodies, contributing to the consolidation of fundamental principles of working with the population and the formation of modern domestic standards in this area.

The President positively assessed the institution of interaction with people, such as the public discussion of draft laws: "This has made it possible to establish feedback with the population and to consider reasonable proposals from citizens when preparing decisions."

Speaking about the interaction of parliamentarians with youth, Alexander Lukashenko noted: "Of course, deputies and senators should meet with young people and talk about preserving historical memory and implementing state youth policy. The creation of a Youth Council under the National Assembly is also a good example of working with the younger generation. The young people saw your work in parliament. You taught them by your own example the conscientious performance of their duties."
