Lukashenko supported the proposal to extend the visa-free regime for residents of Lithuania, Latvia, and Poland for 2024

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko supported the proposal of the Council of Ministers and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to extend the visa-free regime with Lithuania, Latvia, and Poland for 2024. This was reported to BELTA by the Press Service of the President of Belarus.

Since April 15, 2022, a visa-free entry regime to Belarus has been introduced for citizens of Lithuania and Latvia, as well as persons holding the status of non-citizen of Latvia, and since July 1, 2022, for citizens of Poland. In December 2022, the visa-free entry regime for the specified citizens was extended for 2023.

The operation of the visa-free regime in 2022-2023 demonstrated the sustained interest of residents of the neighboring states in visiting the Republic of Belarus, despite obstacles and restrictions imposed by the leadership of Lithuania, Latvia, and Poland.

The introduction of the visa-free regime allows the Republic of Belarus to demonstrate its openness to restoring normal, equal interaction with neighboring states, maintain ties with the Belarusian national minority, and overcome the information blockade imposed by the political elites of neighboring countries through interpersonal communication.
