Lukashenko signed decrees on the appointment of elections for deputies and members of the Council of the Republic

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko signed decrees No. 367 "On the Appointment of Elections of Deputies" and No. 368 "On the Appointment of Elections to the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus" on November 20. BELTA was informed about this by the press service of the Head of State.

In accordance with the requirements of the Constitution, these documents provide for the holding of elections to the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the eighth convocation and local Councils of Deputies of the twenty-ninth convocation on a single voting day - February 25, 2024, and to the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the eighth convocation - on April 4, 2024.

The nomination of candidates for members of the Council of the Republic by local councils of deputies, executive and administrative bodies must take place no later than March 21, 2024.

At the same time, the Central Election Commission, state bodies, and other organizations are instructed to take measures to organize the elections, and the government is instructed to ensure the financing of expenses for their preparation and conduct from the republican budget.
