Lukashenko answered the question of whether IT technologies can replace humans

The President of Belarus, at a meeting with youth activists, answered the question of whether IT technologies can replace humans, a BELTA correspondent reports.

Thus, a systems engineer from the "Beresteysky Pekar" branch of the Kobrin Bakery Plant inquired about the head of state's opinion on how much high technologies can change labor on the land, and whether they are capable of completely replacing humans in the future.

"I may be too conservative in this regard. Nothing will ever be able to replace a human," the President noted.

At the same time, he stated that artificial intelligence is emerging, and humans have already been replaced in many areas, and it is impossible to do without IT now.

Alexander Lukashenko, in particular, cited the military sphere as an example, where robots and drones are already fighting on the battlefield without human involvement. "And they are very dangerous. It's an expensive thing. We are now trying to modernize and restructure our army once again. And we are using the experience of the SMO, among other things," he said. "It is impossible to do without the IT sector."

The IT sector is developing in Belarus in various directions, and the head of state himself was once the initiator of the creation of the Hi-Tech Park and spoke about the history of its formation and the assessments of foreign partners regarding the creation of this facility. "Our competitors, adversaries, are now trying to put pressure on us, to bring us down," he remarked.

In addition to the Hi-Tech Park, the IT sector has also been actively developing at enterprises. "And take the military-industrial complex, space, the Academy of Sciences – there are truly cosmic developments there," the head of state emphasized.

"We have unmanned BELAZ trucks today. They operate all over the world," Alexander Lukashenko continued. He drew attention to the fact that IT specialists, just like the meeting participant who asked the question, are engaged in development.

"Our IT sector is strongly developed in companies that produce this or that product," the President noted. "It would seem that in your company, which bakes bread, the soul and hands are needed, but the IT sector is working."

The same applies to the development of agriculture and animal husbandry: "We have already created dairy complexes where robots exclusively work instead of milkmaids. The penetration of this technological development based on the IT sector is already in all industries. We already have an unmanned tractor. And piloted tractors – they work well with GPS navigation."

"There is penetration everywhere. But it is impossible to replace a person, especially in close contact with nature. IT should be present. But I don't think a person can be replaced in this area. A machine, whatever it may be, cannot replicate human feelings, qualities," the Belarusian leader added.

At the same time, the President emphasized that all innovations related to artificial intelligence and neural networks are significantly changing society. "We are in for difficult times in this regard," said the head of state, drawing attention to the multitude of fakes and the need to teach young people to navigate the information field correctly.

"Any contagion can be put into their mouths, i.e., this thing strongly influences the world, people's relationships. We need to be very careful here. We cannot avoid this," the President expressed his opinion.

The head of state believes that this is a very important, practically military sphere: "And we will have to work here."

"We will move forward gradually in this regard. But let's not forget that even your generation will live through a period when a person will be irreplaceable, especially in agriculture. But where necessary, we will use the IT sector," the head of state summarized.
