Greetings from the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to the participants of the republican scientific-practical conference "State Policy in the Sphere of History: Problems and Prospects for Preserving Historical Truth and Memory".
Dear friends!
We, Belarusians, are a people with a rich centuries-old history. We are proud of our past, the great achievements and the trials of our ancestors, which they endured with dignity. We remember in what difficult conditions the value foundation of Belarusian statehood was created. Today, on its basis, we continue national construction and strengthen the sovereignty of Belarus.
However, the modern challenges of the global world pose a threat of losing the spiritual and moral foundation, without which our people and country have no future. Therefore, we must defend the truth more principled and uncompromisingly, and educate the younger generation by the example of the traditional values of Belarusians, their heroic and labor feats. Historical science plays a leading role in this important mission.
I am convinced that the conference, which is taking place on the eve of the Day of National Unity, will be another confident step towards comprehending the epochal events of the past, will allow us to answer the most complex questions, and will serve the common cause of popularizing national history.
I wish all participants of the forum fruitful work, good health, peace, well-being, and new achievements for the benefit of Belarus.
Alexander Lukashenko
