'So that these guys don't get lost'. Lukashenko instructed to refine the university admission mechanism

The university admission mechanism needs to be improved. This was stated by the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, during his visit to this educational institution, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.

The Head of State was informed about the structure of the technopark, its areas of activity, the system of working with gifted youth, and the development prospects of the educational institution. The Director of the National Children's Technopark, Sergey Sachko, spoke about the structure of the institution, which includes a school, an educational and laboratory building, and a dormitory.

The rules for admitting students to the technopark were also discussed. Initially, students submit applications online, then undergo an in-person interview and complete a test assignment.

The Head of State instructed to study the technopark's experience and improve the mechanism for students' admission to universities. "And why can't we adopt their experience for university admissions?" Alexander Lukashenko addressed the Minister of Education, Andrey Ivants. "A test, sit down, have a face-to-face conversation, and admit students."

"As per your instructions, we admitted targeted students in this manner this year," replied the head of the Ministry of Education.

"Others - no?" the President clarified.

"Not others, but we will consider and make proposals for humanitarian fields," said the minister.

"We need to choose an admission mechanism for universities. What is better - testing, interviews... We need to develop an optimal option," emphasized the Head of State.

The President's main message regarding the graduates of the technopark concerned their future activities – so that these gifted, capable students, who have gained valuable knowledge and experience, would be employed for the benefit of their country.

"Make sure these kids don't get lost. These are unique children," emphasized Alexander Lukashenko.

This year, during the admission campaign, there were already special conditions for those who studied at the children's technopark when entering universities – under the new admission rules, 23 technopark graduates were enrolled in universities without entrance exams upon the recommendation of the technopark's supervisory board.

As Sergey Sachko noted, the park's administration sets itself the task of establishing a system for supporting its graduates until their first job in the near future. They intend to do this in close cooperation with universities.

The National Children's Technopark's long-term plans also include updating educational programs and developing projects tailored to the needs of the real economy sector.
