Lukashenko proposed that the Tambov region intensify cooperation and named promising areas

Belarus and Russia's Tambov region have achieved the highest result in mutual trade, however, cooperation needs to be raised to a higher level. This was stated by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko at a meeting with the head of the Russian region, Maxim Egorov, BELTA correspondent reports.

"You have visited Belarus more than once before and, I am absolutely sure, you are well acquainted with our country. Therefore, I propose to discuss the main areas of interaction, to see where we are not working enough, and most importantly, what needs to be done," said Alexander Lukashenko, opening the meeting.

In 2022, Belarus and the Tambov region achieved the highest result in mutual trade since 2017 - about $180 million (an increase of almost 80%). However, the President noted, these figures are small even by the standards of a single region, and cooperation needs to be raised to a higher level.

On the supply of Belarusian equipment

Among the most promising areas, the head of state first named the supply of Belarusian trucks, utility vehicles, road construction equipment, and elevator equipment. "Everything related to equipment, we can produce and satisfy the needs of your region. We are also ready to supply passenger transport, including buses running on gas fuel, trolleybuses, and electric buses with the required specifications," emphasized Alexander Lukashenko.

The delegation of the Tambov region has already visited MTZ and MAZ, where they got acquainted with the products of these enterprises in detail. The visit program also includes a visit to "Belkommunmash" and "Amkodor".

"We can also supply you with tractors, combines, and other equipment in the volumes you need," the President stated.

On production cooperation

The head of state noted that time forces a more active transition from simple trade to the development of production and cooperation, and to concentrate efforts on import substitution. This will ensure technological independence and security, he stressed.

"According to my information, after meeting with our Ambassador to Russia in April of this year, you proposed the production facilities of the joint-stock company Tambovspetsmash for the implementation of joint cooperation projects. I would like you, after some time, to tell us what kind of equipment you would like to produce together with us, what results we have achieved in this work today, what needs to be done, and what we will do next. Are there any problems that require solutions at my level?" - Alexander Lukashenko clarified.

On Cooperation in the Agro-Industrial Complex

The Belarusian side is also ready to provide practical assistance in the construction of grain and vegetable storage facilities, and in the supply of equipment for dairy farms. "I know that the region is very developed in this regard, and you pay great attention to it. Our proposals have been sent to you. If you are ready, we would like you to propose reciprocal steps and give us an answer as to whether we will work in this direction. An exchange of experience in the field of modern agricultural technologies and processing of agricultural products, on issues of breeding work and pedigree, and training of qualified personnel for the agro-industrial complex would be very useful," the President is confident.

On Construction and Water Purification

At the same time, the head of state also touched upon issues that require solutions. According to his information, there is some slowdown in cooperation in the construction sector. This issue is very important for the population, as it directly affects the quality of people's lives, Alexander Lukashenko noted.

"If you need professional support from our builders, you can count on us," the Belarusian leader stated. "We are also ready to intensify joint work on your 'Clean Water' project using modern technologies and equipment for water treatment and wastewater disposal."

On Humanitarian Cooperation

Alexander Lukashenko added that he had outlined only the main areas of cooperation. This is far from a complete list of issues that may be of interest to both the Tambov region and Belarus.

"While focusing on the economy, we should not forget about student and school exchanges, healthcare, science, education, culture, and tourism – what is called the humanitarian sphere. These are the very links that help us get to know each other better. They are especially important for the upbringing of modern youth – a paramount issue both in Russia and in our country. We are ready to discuss any issues of cooperation with you. And the decisions we make today, rest assured, we will sacredly observe," the President assured.
