Lukashenko congratulated the people of Ukraine and stated his readiness to do everything to stop the confrontation

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko congratulated the fraternal Ukrainian people on Independence Day. BELTA was informed about this by the press service of the Belarusian leader.

"Many generations of Belarusians and Ukrainians have lived in harmony and respect for centuries. Since time immemorial, our ancestors traded, started families and raised children, bravely fought fascism together, and rebuilt a common state in the first post-war five-year plans," the congratulatory message reads. "And to this day, we are united by such character traits as diligence, hard work, respect for elders and our traditions, and unique culture."

"Having gained independence more than three decades ago, both countries have chosen independent paths for their development and building a future, for which we must create safe opportunities for the dignified coexistence of the entire region. We must use the value of our neighborhood to end confrontation. The Belarusian side is ready to do everything necessary and even more for this. I believe that we are capable of this," the Belarusian leader emphasized.

Alexander Lukashenko wished all residents of Ukraine that peace, invaluable and so necessary for all people of goodwill, would soon prevail in their land.
