Lukashenko on the upcoming corn harvest: we can get another two million tons of grain

This year, Belarus is experiencing a very good corn harvest, which can help compensate for the shortfall in grain from cereal crops.

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko stated this during a meeting on current issues of the Vitebsk region development, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.

"If the Vitebsk region or other areas of our country have fallen short on cereal crops or rapeseed, we have excellent corn. I have warned the Deputy Prime Minister and the new Minister of Agriculture that a very difficult and important stage lies ahead – preparing for and harvesting the corn. Especially for grain. The corn is standing exceptionally well, an excellent harvest. And I am confident that if we harvest it all, we can get another two million tons of corn grain," the Belarusian leader stated.

However, he warned against merely chasing grain yield figures, emphasizing the need to approach corn harvesting with consideration for local needs: "Whether to harvest corn for grain or silage is up to you. There's no need to chase after just getting grain. If a good cob has formed, then corn silage will also be very good. Especially for the Vitebsk region. And for others too."
