Лукашенко о будущем составе ВНС: там будут разные точки зрения, но не будет врагов

Lukashenko on the future composition of the Supreme State Council: there will be different points of view, but no enemies

Elections to the All-Belarusian People's Assembly must be held openly and honestly. This was stated by the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, at a meeting with the Chairperson of the Central Election Commission, Igor Karpenko, during a discussion of preparations for the upcoming electoral campaign in 2024, a BELTA correspondent reports.

The head of state separately drew attention to such a novelty as the formation of the All-Belarusian People's Assembly, an body that, following the referendum, acquired constitutional status in Belarus.

"We are laying a certain foundation in this matter. We are gaining experience. We need to approach this very carefully. A lot is defined in the Constitution and in the laws: the number of members, how to elect them, from whom to elect them, and so on. There are no disputes here. Elections to the All-Belarusian People's Assembly must also be held openly and honestly," the head of state said. "There will be different people there. I am sure there will be different points of view. The only thing is that there will be no enemies there. And we don't need enemies. Our society included. And points of view should be different so that we make the right decisions."

As BELTA reported, Belarus will hold a single voting day for the first time in 2024. Elections will not only form the composition of the parliament, but citizens will also elect deputies to local councils of various levels. The single voting day is provided for by the updated Constitution. It is the last Sunday of February. Thus, the first single voting day will take place on February 25, 2024.

Another feature is the formation of the All-Belarusian People's Assembly. The Constitution stipulates that the first meeting of the All-Belarusian People's Assembly must be held no later than 60 days after the single voting day. Thus, the last day for the start of the meeting of the All-Belarusian People's Assembly is April 25.
