Lukashenko demanded that the Ministry of Education pay serious attention to targeted students

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, at a meeting on current issues of the admission campaign, demanded that serious attention be paid to targeted enrollment in universities, BELTA correspondent reports.

"I want to warn about targeted students: people must understand that they are receiving education and returning to a specific place of work," Alexander Lukashenko noted. "Married or not, they still have to work it off. Of course, we will approach it humanely. But targeted students must clearly understand that they will have to work for a certain period according to the agreement. And this period should be substantial. Not two or three years, but at least five years."

The President emphasized that serious attention should be paid to targeted enrollment. "We will not abandon this, because we need teachers, doctors, agronomists, and zootechnicians in specific places in specific regions. And there are people who want to enter universities and undertake obligations for targeted assignment. There are enough of them, so they should be supported. Mostly, these are decent people who go and work," said the head of state.

As noted by the Minister of Education Andrei Ivants, it is precisely these approaches that are adhered to during the admission campaign. "A targeted student should be not only a motivated but also a prepared applicant," he said.

On June 5, the acceptance of documents for targeted education in universities concluded. About 4.7 thousand applicants wished to become targeted students. From June 6 to June 13, they will have only one internal examination in the first specialized subject in oral or practical form. Targeted students will be enrolled in universities by June 16.

A subject teacher is included in each admission committee. This is a crucial aspect, because a professor may have excessively high requirements for applicants, noted the Minister of Education. "Audio and video recording are provided. Comfortable conditions are provided so that applicants do not wait for three, five, or ten hours at the door. Within this week, we will see the results of the oral examination and will be able to make proposals for further improvement of this document admission process," noted Andrei Ivants.
