President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko emphasizes the important role of unity within the CSTO for preserving the sovereignty and independence of its member states. The Head of State made this statement at a meeting with participants of the session of the Council of the Parliamentary Assembly of the CSTO, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.

"I am confident that the motto of the Belarusian presidency, 'Through Solidarity and Cooperation to Peace and Security,' serves the interests of all CSTO member states. In this regard, we cannot overlook the issue of unity within our ranks. Within the framework of its presidency, Belarus aims to undertake the necessary efforts to enhance the cohesion of CSTO member states," said Alexander Lukashenko. "It is precisely by resolving existing contradictions that we see the prospect of strengthening the organization and ensuring security and stability within its area of responsibility."

The President noted that he often discusses this issue with the President of Russia: "We do not want you to fall under the sanctions imposed against us by cooperating with us. We absolutely do not need this. It will only make things worse. But I want to say that we sincerely hope that these attempts to divide us will not affect our unity. The economy is paramount. The market is paramount."

The Head of State stated that a number of countries in the post-Soviet space are facing various problems and challenges. "But we have always come together, discussed problems. And at times, we have taken serious actions to somehow calm the situation in one or another part of the post-Soviet space. This is invaluable. They are trying to drive us apart. As an experienced person, I want to ask you: be careful, without making a fuss, do not fall for these tricks! You should seek what is best for you, what is best for your peoples," said Alexander Lukashenko.

He provided an example, stating that if it is beneficial for Tajikistan to trade its high-quality vegetables and fruits, then it should do so. And

"Therefore, do not allow (you, parliamentarians, first and foremost) this rupture at this critical moment in our history. The powers that be are trying to redivide the world, and we are at the center of this attention. We must stick together, we must be closer to each other at this time. This is our policy. We offer it to you. I think there is no other alternative for preserving the sovereignty and independence of our states," the Belarusian leader is confident.

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO PA) must also have its say in this, noted Alexander Lukashenko. Parliamentarians, through their active participation in the processes of development and strengthening of the CSTO's potential, can contribute to enhancing the organization's role in the system of international relations. "The clear adherence to the principle of indivisible security, as an inalienable condition for peaceful dialogue, countering external pressure and sanctions, will also serve the progressive advancement in this direction," the President said.

He expressed confidence that the meeting of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly Council in Minsk will be held in an absolutely constructive atmosphere and will contribute to the adoption of concrete decisions aimed at strengthening the relations of genuine alliance between the CSTO member states. "We will do everything possible for this. You can count on us and have no doubts," the Belarusian leader assured.
