In the zone of general attention

As of April 4, the water level of the Western Dvina River was 10 meters and 14 centimeters. Over the past day, the water has risen by 17 cm and continues to rise. A water level increase of up to 1 meter is expected.

An emergency situations commission is working in the area, and measures are being taken to minimize the consequences of the flood. Many homeowners from the flooded areas have already moved to safe locations and secured their property.
The Republican Secretariat of the Belarusian Red Cross, along with its regional and district organizations, has joined efforts to assist residents.

In case of a flooding threat and inability to evacuate independently, please contact rescuers by dialing 101 or 112.

We urge residents to observe safety rules during the flood:

- If you receive a notification about a flood threat and evacuation, immediately leave (or drive) the danger zone to a designated safe area or to elevated ground.
- Before leaving your home, turn off electricity and gas, extinguish any fires, secure all floating objects outside buildings or place them in utility rooms, and take your documents, valuables, essential belongings, and a two-day supply of food.
- If your home is flooding before help arrives and the water recedes, stay on the upper floors and roofs of buildings, on trees, or other elevated objects. Signal for help when rescuers approach; transfer to a watercraft without panic and with caution. Strictly follow the rescuers' instructions. Do not leave your designated spot during transit, and do not sit on the edge of the vessel.
- After the flood, check the condition of electrical wiring, gas supply pipelines, water supply, and sewage systems. Do not use them until their serviceability is confirmed by specialists.
- Do not turn on the electric lighting, do not use open flames, and do not light matches until the premises are fully ventilated and the gas supply system is checked for proper functioning.
- To dry out premises, open all doors and windows, remove dirt from floors and walls, and pump water out of basements. Organize the cleaning of wells from deposited dirt and remove water from them. Do not consume food products that have come into contact with floodwater.
