Vasily Shilov, Chairman of the Verkhnedvinsk District Executive Committee: 'The Head of State has set a clear task: to ensure the development of the economy, on which people's well-being depends'
The Address of the President of the Republic of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, to the Belarusian people and the National Assembly made a strong impression – in essence, it is a program document that expresses our leader's vision of the country's development strategy for the near future, and sets tasks that we will work on.
The main emphasis is on state security, as the well-being of the people and the future of the nation depend on it. It was precisely the preservation of Belarus's independence and sovereignty in the face of the harshest external pressure that Alexander Lukashenko called the theme of the 2023 Address. Tasks have been set to preserve the unity of society and the state, ensure national security, strengthen the economy, and promote cultural and spiritual values.
The President has set clear guidelines for the work of leaders at all levels. And I consider the development of the economy and people's well-being to be the most important. This is what was said: ensure the economy, and everything else will be done. The basis of it in our region is agriculture. We are constantly engaged in the development of this industry and are achieving results: in 2022, growth in gross output and positive sales profitability were ensured, and profits of more than 14 million rubles were obtained. The harvest of grain and leguminous crops amounted to more than 68 thousand tons with a yield of 35.5 centners per hectare. According to the results of the regional competition for the harvest, our district took first place. There are tangible achievements in animal husbandry and the processing of agricultural products. It is in demand and brings a stable financial income.
But there is still work to be done: we will continue the reconstruction and construction of production facilities, improve technologies, and develop promising areas of the agricultural sector.
In the industrial complex, new production lines are to be introduced and competitive products mastered. The President emphasized that the time of sanctions and restrictions from unfriendly countries has tempered us and taught us to work better. Indeed, last year, export deliveries of goods in the district reached record levels and exceeded the previous level by 16%. And the export of services doubled. We will continue to actively enter the markets of Russia and Asian republics, including China.
We will develop the raw material zone and load production capacities, implement investment projects, and create attractive jobs. In particular, it is planned to introduce a sour cream production line at the butter and cheese factory and modernize the workshop.
As the head of state has repeatedly emphasized, the economy is the foundation of the country's development and a guarantee of citizens' well-being. If we can work effectively, we will ensure a better life. All the tasks voiced by the President play a role in creating comfortable conditions for our residents: road and housing construction, accessible and quality healthcare, bringing order to the land, and others. The Address notes that with a job, a decent salary, and housing, people will not leave district centers and agro-towns. Creating such conditions is our top priority. There are jobs in the district, with
