Duh Island in the "Osvyeysky" Reserve Becomes a Tourist Hit

Lately, there has been an increasing number of people wishing to connect with pristine nature and feel a part of the surrounding world, believes the institution's director, Igor Romanyuk. "Osvyeysky" is one such place, which has been developing at a rapid pace over the last two to three years.

Today, the заказник has 13 long-term agreements for servicing ecotourists. This is due to both the interest of residents of Belarus and other countries in outdoor recreation and the development of infrastructure.

– The implementation of an international technical assistance cross-border cooperation project has contributed to this, – says Igor Romanyuk. – We acquired two boats with 5 and 11 seats, trained a boat operator and a guide. We developed the route "Mysterious Island Du," the most interesting aspects of which were a walking trail, birdwatching for rare species, and familiarization with "red-listed" plants.
