A fire in the Verkhnedvinsk district claimed the lives of a pensioner and her son. Today at 4:34 AM, Verkhnedvinsk rescuers responded to a report of a house fire in the village of Novy Dvor.
By the time the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) employees arrived, the fire was occurring inside a one-story brick house, and the roof was also engulfed in flames.
The property belonged to a pensioner born in 1948. Rescuers found her body first. Some time later, under a layer of collapsed structures approximately one meter high, the body of her son, born in 1981, was also found. The fire destroyed the house's roof, ceiling, and property, and damaged the walls. According to the preliminary version, the fire could have been caused by the homeowner's son's careless handling of fire while smoking.
