Fire safety issues at polling stations are under the control of rescuers
In anticipation of the important socio-political event – the Presidential elections of the Republic of Belarus, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Verkhnedvinsk district are studying the condition of polling stations for compliance with fire safety requirements. Rescuers are monitoring 21 polling stations.
Preventive visits are carried out in advance, and not only the premises where the polling stations will be located, but also the entire building are subject to inspection.
During the inspection, Ministry of Emergency Situations inspectors pay special attention to the availability and operability of automatic fire alarm systems, check the compliance of evacuation plans (which should be placed in a visible location for visitors) with their graphical part, the location of evacuation routes and exits, and their marking with fire safety signs.
– All emergency exits marked on the diagram must have unimpeded access, and the doors must open from the inside without a key, – explain the Ministry of Emergency Situations employees.
Representatives of the rescue department are also interested in the knowledge of facility employees regarding the procedure for actions in case of emergencies. Fire extinguishing equipment with a valid service life is also within the rescuers' focus.
– According to the requirements, a fire extinguisher should not be stored near heating devices, heated surfaces, and units, and direct sunlight should also be avoided. Using a fire extinguisher is not difficult. You need to take it in your hands, break the seal, pull the pin, press the lever, and direct the extinguishing agent towards the fire, – the rescuers reminded.
Before the start of early voting, representatives of the Ministry of Emergency Situations will visit all polling stations in the region and assess their readiness for the important socio-political event, and during the voting period – they will ensure periodic monitoring and duty at the sites.
