Vitebsk customs officers have uncovered another attempt to circumvent legislation to avoid paying customs duties. This time, new watches, bags, and shoes were hidden in used clothing. The undeclared goods were discovered during a cargo inspection using an inspection and screening complex at the "Grigorovshchina" border crossing point.
According to the documents, the used clothing transported by the Lithuanian carrier was valued at approximately 16,000 Belarusian rubles. However, during the vehicle inspection, customs officers found a batch of new shoes worth over 90,000 rubles among the declared items, as well as 236 watches and bags with a total value of over 100,000 Belarusian rubles, which were hidden inside the clothing.
The Vitebsk Customs has initiated administrative proceedings against the Lithuanian carrier: for the movement of goods by concealment from customs control, in accordance with Part 2 of Article 15.1, he faces a fine of up to 500 base units with possible confiscation, and for non-declaration (in accordance with Part 1 of Article 15.5 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Belarus), the fine will be up to 30% of the subject of the administrative offense.
As a result, the amount of fines for legislative violations that the carrier will have to pay may exceed 47,000 Belarusian rubles.
