On January 26, 2024, a republican Unified Road Safety Day "Mutual Respect is the Key to Safety!" will be held in the Verkhnedvinsk region.

The purpose of the event is to promote compliance with the Traffic Regulations by all its participants.

The level of road traffic safety is significantly influenced by the indiscipline of vehicle drivers and pedestrians. In most cases, road traffic accidents occur due to a lack of mutual respect among road users, as well as disregard for the Traffic Regulations.
The main cause of traffic accidents remains the violation of pedestrian crossing rules. Every driver must constantly remember that, in accordance with clause 116 of the Traffic Regulations, when approaching an unregulated pedestrian crossing and/or bicycle crossing, they must give way to pedestrians and yield to cyclists.

Pedestrian road users should also not forget that even if they have the right of way, in accordance with clause 18.2 of the Traffic Regulations, they are prohibited from lingering or stopping on the roadway, including on the horizontal road marking lines separating oncoming and same-direction traffic flows.

Only strict adherence to the traffic regulations by all road users will lead to a reduction in the number of road accidents and the severity of their consequences.
