On criminal liability for illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs
In Belarus, the illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, and their analogues is severely punishable by law.
Meanwhile, a situation is possible where citizens engaged in this "business" may avoid punishment.
A person who voluntarily surrenders narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, their precursors or analogues, and actively contributes to the detection or suppression of a crime related to the illicit trafficking of these substances, the exposure of persons who committed them, or the discovery of criminally obtained property, is exempted from criminal liability for this crime.
Belarusian legislation is sufficiently flexible, it gives a person the opportunity to avoid consequences that will affect the rest of their life.
The maximum penalty for the illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, and their analogues is deprivation of liberty for a term of twenty-five years with a fine.
