Industrial measure of individual fish species in fishing

Many fishermen are aware of the existence of a commercial size limit for the selection of caught fish.

However, even those who are aware do not always adhere to this rule, and sometimes grossly violate it. The commercial size limit (minimum fish size) is established to prevent the capture of young individuals that have not had time to grow and reproduce. It is defined for 16 species of fish. For example, the size of a caught zander must be at least 40 centimeters; fish that have not reached this length should be released.
The adopted standards are based on scientific research, which suggests that a 40-centimeter zander has spawned at least once, unlike individuals of a smaller size. The Verkhnedvinsk Inter-district Inspectorate for the Protection of Fauna and Flora reports that, in accordance with the Rules of Amateur Fishing and the Rules of Fishery Management, approved by Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus of July 21, 2021, No. 284, a commercial size limit for certain fish species has been established for amateur and commercial fishing (see).
