On the conduct of the republican anti-smoking information and educational campaign
Promoting a healthy lifestyle among the population is a key area of state policy for preserving and strengthening the nation's health.
SMOKING is a cause of cancer, cardiovascular, allergic, and many other diseases, and it reduces the lifespan of smokers.
SMOKING is a severe addiction.
By inhaling tobacco smoke, you kill yourself,
By exhaling, you harm those around you!
In order to implement the State Program "People's Health and Demographic Security of the Republic of Belarus" for 2021-2025, the provisions of the World Health Organization Framework Convention on Tobacco Control in the Republic of Belarus, the prevention of diseases causally linked to smoking, and in connection with the observance of the Unified Health Day "World No Tobacco Day. Prevention of Oncological Diseases" on November 16, 2023, the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus has initiated a nationwide anti-tobacco information and education campaign from November 13 to 19, 2023.
According to WHO estimates, tobacco use is currently responsible for 16% of all deaths among adults over 30 in the European Region, with most of these deaths being premature.
This year, World No Tobacco Day is primarily dedicated to the prevention of oncological diseases. Cancer is the second leading cause of morbidity and mortality in Europe after cardiovascular diseases. The long-term trend by disease class is characterized by a moderate increase in the neoplasm class.
Reducing tobacco use is the most significant preventable cause of death. And although, thanks to the anti-tobacco measures implemented in our country, the number of tobacco users is decreasing (by 12% since 2001), the problem of smoking remains relevant.
Consultations with doctors on healthy lifestyle issues, prevention of smoking as a risk factor for oncological diseases, exhibitions of informational and educational materials, and "hotline" services will be organized in healthcare organizations and district hygiene and epidemiology centers.
For consultations, please contact the Verkhnedvinsk District Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology and the Verkhnedvinsk Central District Hospital via the "hotline" numbers: 6 16 95, 6 32 65, 6 32 97.
