From October 2 to 8, due to the shortening daylight hours, the traffic police will strengthen control over the observance of traffic rules by vulnerable road users.

From October 2 to 8, due to the decreasing daylight hours, the State Traffic Inspectorate will intensify control over the observance of traffic rules by vulnerable road users (including persons using personal mobility devices) and persons operating two-wheeled vehicles.

The main reason for traffic accidents involving this category of road users is that they move along the roadway in the dark "invisibly" to drivers, without marking themselves with retroreflective elements.

The State Traffic Inspectorate reminds that in accordance with Part 1 of Article 18.20 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Belarus, a violation of traffic rules by a pedestrian, a person operating a bicycle, a horse-drawn vehicle, or a person participating in traffic and not operating a vehicle entails the imposition of an administrative penalty in the form of a fine of up to 3 base units.

In case of violation of traffic rules by persons specified in Part 1 of Article 18.20 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Belarus, committed while in a state of alcoholic or narcotic intoxication, as well as refusal to undergo examination, such persons shall be held liable under Part 2 of Article 18.20 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Belarus with the imposition of a fine of up to 5 base units.
